Missionaries

Who is serving, where, and when they come home

One roster for the elders, sisters and senior couples serving from your ward or stake. Their mission and expected return are always in front of you, and when someone comes home, the record stays.

Sound familiar?

The list matters, and it never stays in one place.

“Who is serving right now?”

I know most of the names, but the list is in a spreadsheet, a binder and the clerk's memory, and they don't quite agree.

“When does she come home?”

A family asks, or I'm planning ahead, and I'm hunting for a return date I wrote down somewhere.

“What does the whole stake look like?”

To see every ward's missionaries I have to ask each bishop, and by the time I have the answers they've changed.

Walkthrough

One roster, from the first day to the last

Three screens show how a ward keeps its list and how the stake sees all of it.

Who uses it

Built for the people who keep the list

Leaders in the unit can see who is serving. A smaller group keeps the list.

Bishopric and ward clerk

Add the ward's missionaries, update their details, mark them returned, and look through history.

Stake presidency and stake clerk

See every ward's missionaries. Add, update or mark returned for any ward in the stake, and look through history.

Other leaders in the unit

Leaders such as the elders quorum and Relief Society presidencies, ward mission leaders, executive secretaries and the high council can see who is serving and when they return.

Ward and stake

Works alone, works together

A ward can keep its list on its own. When it connects to its stake, the stake sees every ward's list.

  • A ward on its own

The ward keeps its own roster. There's nothing more to set up.

  • A ward linked to its stake

When a ward connects to its stake, its missionaries show up in the stake's list on their own, and the ward keeps managing them. If the ward ever leaves, it keeps every record.

  • At the stake

One list of every ward's missionaries, each labeled with its ward, and grouped by ward if you like. To add one, pick the ward. A stake can do this even before a ward connects, and the entry carries over when it does.

Everything the roster keeps track of

Only what a roster needs: who, which mission, and which dates.

Elders, sisters and senior couples

Pick the type for each entry. A senior couple is one entry with both first names and the last name they share.

Mission and dates

Each entry carries the mission, the start date and the expected return date, so when they come home is one glance away.

Edit whenever plans change

Fix a name, move a date or change a mission at any time. An entry made by mistake can be deleted.

Mark returned, keep the record

Choose the date they came home. They leave the serving list and move to history, with nothing lost.

A history you can search

Everyone who has returned, with the dates they served. Search by name or mission, show or hide elders, sisters and couples, and group by year. The leaders who keep the list can open it.

Find anyone quickly

Search by name or mission and filter by type. Sort by who returns soonest, by name, or newest first, and group by type. A stake can also filter and group by ward.

Questions leaders ask

Who can see our missionaries?

Only leaders who have a Wardzen account in your unit. A ward sees its own missionaries, and its stake sees them too once the ward is connected. Wardzen keeps just the name, type, mission and dates.

Who can add or change entries?

In a ward, the bishopric and the ward clerk. In a stake, the stake presidency and the stake clerk. Other leaders can see who is serving.

What happens when a missionary comes home?

A leader marks them returned and picks the date. They leave the serving list and move to history with the dates they served, and the record is kept. Delete is separate, for an entry made by mistake.

How does the stake see its wards' missionaries?

When a ward connects to its stake with a code, its missionaries appear in the stake's list. The stake can also add a missionary by choosing the ward, even one that hasn't connected yet; those entries carry over when it does. If a ward leaves the stake, it keeps all of its records and the stake stops seeing them.

Can we export our list?

Yes. Settings has a data export that downloads everything your unit keeps in Wardzen, missionaries included.
